Mandar Marathe

Mumbai-based digital marketing consultant, entrepreneur, and visiting faculty at IIT Bombay

Mandar Marathe is a Mumbai-based digital marketing consultant and entrepreneur who began his career as a software engineer at Infosys before earning an MBA in marketing at Texas A&M University. Since 2013 he has run Briefkase, a digital marketing agency for startups and SMEs, and has served as visiting faculty for digital marketing at institutions including IIT Bombay, IIM Sirmaur, and Great Lakes Institute of Management. He also hosts The Digital Marketing Podcast and is co-founder and CEO of Koppr, alongside other entrepreneurial ventures.

Career

Marathe started his career as a software engineer at Infosys before moving to the United States in 2006 to pursue an MBA in marketing at Texas A&M University's Mays Business School. After graduating, he worked at Digitas, a Publicis Groupe digital agency, before returning to Mumbai in 2010 to join Reprise Media (an IPG company) as its fourth employee in India, eventually becoming Director of Client Servicing on accounts including Tata Motors and Aditya Birla Group.^[1]

In 2013 he founded Briefkase Digital Communications, a full-service digital marketing agency serving startups and small and medium businesses, where he has served as Managing Partner and Digital Performance Marketing Head.^[2] He has since taken on entrepreneurial roles including Co-founder and CEO of Koppr, Co-founder of Elemnt Sports Science, and Vice President of Marketing at T72 Club and UPTIQ.^[3]

Teaching and media

Marathe has served as visiting faculty for digital marketing at IIT Bombay's Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management since 2013, and has also taught at IIM Sirmaur and the Great Lakes Institute of Management, covering topics such as SEO, web analytics, pay-per-click marketing, social media advertising and content marketing.^[4] He hosts The Digital Marketing Podcast, covering social media marketing, content marketing, conversion optimisation, SEO and paid search.^[5]
