Rahul Marathe is a physicist and Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). His research lies primarily in non-equilibrium statistical physics and biophysics.
Research
Marathe studies the physical principles governing systems that operate away from thermodynamic equilibrium. His research interests include stochastic thermodynamics, fluctuation theorems, active-particle heat engines, quantum transport and bacterial motility.[1]
These subjects connect fundamental statistical physics with the behaviour of biological and microscopic systems. His work includes theoretical approaches to understanding fluctuations, energy exchange and the dynamics of small systems where conventional macroscopic thermodynamic descriptions are insufficient.[1]
